چکیده

For computation of a posteriori probabilities (APP’s), the wellknown BCJR algorithm is often applied. If the underlying model is a nonrecursive shift register process, it will be shown that this algorithm obtains a general memory redundancy if the computation is performed over a commutative semiring with an absorbing zero element. The result is of particular interest for the BCJR algorithm carried out in the max-log domain.

Duality of Channel Encoding and Decoding - Part II: Rate-1 Non-binary Convolutional Codes

This is the second part of a series of papers on a revisit to the bidirectional Bahl-Cocke-JelinekRaviv (BCJR) soft-in-soft-out (SISO) maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) decoding algorithm. Part I revisited the BCJR MAP decoding algorithm for rate-1 binary convolutional codes and proposed a linear complexity decoder using shift registers in the complex number field. Part II proposes a low c...

Duality of channel encoding and decoding - Part I: rate-1 binary convolutional codes

In this paper, we revisit the forward, backward and bidirectional Bahl-Cocke-Jelinek-Raviv (BCJR) soft-input soft-output (SISO) maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) decoding process of rate-1 binary convolutional codes. From this we establish some interesting explicit relationships between encoding and decoding of rate-1 convolutional codes. We observe that the forward and backward BCJR SISO ...

On the Design of High Speed Parallel CRC Circuits using DSP Algorithams

Error correction codes provide a mean to detect and correct errors introduced by the transmission channel. Basically there are two categories of codes a).Block codes and b).convolution codes. Both the codes introduce redundancy by adding parity symbols to the message data. Cyclic redundancy check (CRC) codes are the subset of the cyclic codes. The hardware implementation of a CRC is a simple li...
